Fire! Fire!

Today we visited our local fire station to drop off some old cans of paint. A friendly firefighter came out to our van to visit with the children. He invited us inside the fire station and let the boys sit in a fire truck!

Those big, red, shiny trucks were pretty cool. Our two-year-old wore his own plastic firefighter helmet for the occasion. Here are a couple snapshots of two very excited little boys. (Please excuse the picture quality. We used my husband's cell phone to take the shots.)

Cute! My boys love the fire trucks, too.

I'm glad to see that Calgary has gone back to red fire trucks. They had hideous yellowy green ones when I lived there.

Unfortunately, there are still some of the yellow trucks around!

The fire hall we visited also stores a gorgeous antique ladder truck in its garage. It belongs to the firefighters museum. We learned that the antique truck is still in active service --- if the fire department has an emergency and runs out of regular trucks, they can use the museum's ladder truck. It's mostly used for parades and special events, though.
